Princess Cruises has extended its cruise cancellations once again. This is in response to the recently issued Centers for Disease Control and Prevention “Framework for Conditional Sailing” Order.
The CDC’s new “Framework” requires certain safety and health protocols in place before cruise ships with over 250 people onboard (passengers and crew) are allowed to resume U.S. cruise operations.
Princess Cruises Global Cancellations
As a result, Princess Cruises extends the pause throughout its global operations. Additional time is needed to complete the required activities prior to sailing. Included is a temporary seven-day maximum sailing for itineraries that call at a U.S. port.
The cruises affected by the pause in operations include:
- All cruises departing through March 31, 2021
- All cruises longer than seven days that sail in and out of United States ports through November 1, 2021
Additionally, due to international travel restrictions and not knowing when they might be lifted, Princess Cruises is extending its pause in operations for cruises departing in and out of Japan through June 25, 2021.
“We are focused on preparing our ships to meet the CDC health and safety requirements for our eventual return to service,” said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises. “We also appreciate the continued support we have received from our guests, partners and travel advisors, reinforcing for all of us why we do what we do.”
What to do if you are booked on a canceled voyage
Princess Cruises cancellation policy states that those who are booked on these cancelled voyages have the option to receive a refundable Future Cruise Credit (FCC). This is equal to 100% of the cruise fare paid. Plus, receive an additional non-refundable bonus FCC that is equal to 25% of the cruise fare.
Nothing needs to be done by either the passenger or their travel agent. The FCC is automatically posted to the guest’s account.
If someone prefers a full refund for the amount paid, here’s the link to the Princess website’s online form. If requests are not received by December 31, 2020, the Future Cruise Credit will automatically be applied.
